Surely one of the most successful televisions series ever produced, The Simpsons is a brilliant portrayal of human nature. The show is an animated satirical parody about a dysfunctional middle class American family, set in the fictional town of Springfield which serves as a microcosm for society. One of the key features of the show is that, being animated, it is able to create a whole entire universe which isn’t limited by actors or studios, and is able to cross the entire spectrum of the issues faced by society and so accurately portray the subtleties and truth of ourselves and human nature.

I grew up completely immersed in The Simpsons and for me it served as a breath of fresh air as it was such an accurately honest portrayal of what was going on around me and what I was seeing growing up. And as they say, honesty is truth and truth is therapy. The Simpsons is to me the most accurate portrayal of human nature.

I have always been someone who really likes to read, and for years that has been something that I like to do in my free time. One of my favorite genres is science fiction books, and I read those a lot. A lot of my friends tell me that they don’t like that genre but at the same time, it has just always been one that I have been able to get into. Some of the things I like the most about it are the fact that I am able to pick up science fiction books and be able to escape to a new world entirely. Our friends threw us a surprise going away party. Neither my wife or I am really big fans of surprises however the party was nice. Everyone gave us a card wishing us well, and many of the cards were full of money. While these gifts were unexpected they definitely went a long way in helping us deal with the expenses that came with our move. I wish I had the time to thank everyone of my friends personally for all of the love and care they have shown to us. But since we were moving the next day there was no way that I could talk to each one of them face-to-face. My wife decided that the best thing for us to do would be to send them thank you notes that express our gratitude for their kindness and for their true friendship. These people are the type of friends that you will never forget.

I love to read. It is something I can do almost anywhere. If I could read while I was driving then I would probably try to get away with it. But, that isn’t exactly safe and I am sure the cops would pull me over in a heart beat. Instead, I try to make all of my recreational activities involve reading. I joined this Black Expressions book club and so far it has been really interesting. I read all kinds of books that the club is currently on and we can even discuss some of them. Maybe I should get one of those electronic readers so I could take more books with me when I go places. I bet it would be friendlier for the environment. But, I would not want to get rid of all of the other standard books that I have on my shelves. They are like my children.
